Sev-0 Fines on Prohibited A2P Traffic

Created by PX Marketing, Modified on Tue, 19 Aug at 3:47 PM by PX Marketing

Overview

T-Mobile has implemented strict fines for A2P 10DLC non-compliance involving prohibited content. These are classified as Sev-0 (Severity 0) violations, the most severe type of consumer messaging violation. Since Sev-0 traffic also violates PXME’s messaging policies, all fines issued by T-Mobile are directly passed on to your PXME account. This policy took effect on February 15, 2024.

What Messages Are Prohibited?

Sev-0 fines apply to all traffic on the T-Mobile network. The following categories are strictly prohibited:

  • Phishing & Smishing – Fraudulent attempts to obtain sensitive data (including simulated phishing).

  • Social Engineering – Manipulating users into sharing personal details (e.g., passwords, credit cards).

  • Illegal Content – Any content not legal at both federal and state levels.

  • SHAFT Content – Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco — when not fully compliant with applicable regulations (e.g., missing age-gating).

Sev-0 Fine Structure

TierViolation TypeFine per Violation
Tier 1Phishing, Smishing, Social Engineering$2,000
Tier 2Illegal Content (federally + state illegal)$1,000
Tier 3SHAFT violations$500

Additional Enforcement Actions

  • T-Mobile may suspend brands, campaigns, or entire company access to the network if violations are excessive.

  • PXME may suspend messaging privileges for accounts with repeated non-compliance.

What Happens If You Are Fined?

  1. You will receive a Sev-0 violation notice.

  2. The fine amount (based on violation tier) will be billed directly to your PXME account.

Best Practices to Avoid Fines

  • Review Messaging Policies – Follow PXME’s Acceptable Use Policy, CTIA guidelines, and all regulations.

  • Avoid SHAFT Content – If restricted categories apply, ensure proper age-gating and legal compliance.

  • Use Clear Opt-Ins – Send only to contacts with explicit consent.

  • Monitor Campaigns Closely – Avoid risky keywords, suspicious links, or spam-like tactics.

  • Contact Support – If unsure, reach out to PXME Support before launching a campaign.
