Overview

Call tracking in PXME helps you identify which marketing sources generate your inbound calls. Whether prospects are coming from Facebook ads, Google ads, email campaigns, or other channels, call tracking enables you to measure performance, attribute leads to campaigns, and optimize ad spend. Using Number Pools, you can track visitor activity across multiple sources or focus on single campaigns for clearer insights.

Step 1: Create a Number Pool

Navigating to Number Pool Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Phone Numbers.

  2. Select Add Number Pool (or edit an existing one).

Choosing a Tracking Option

When creating a Number Pool, select one of two options:

  • Track visitor activity – Best for monitoring multiple sources (Google Ads, PPC keywords, Facebook ads, etc.).

  • Track a marketing campaign – Best for one-time efforts like email blasts or single ad sets.

Choose the option that fits your strategy and click Create Pool.

Step 2: Configure Your Number Pool

  • Name your pool (e.g., “FB Ads – Summer Campaign”).

  • Choose number quantity (2, 5, 8, etc.).

  • Forward Calls To – Select the destination number for call routing.

  • Enable Swapping Number if you want dynamic number changes based on traffic source.

  • Purchase additional numbers if needed.

  • Click Next: Tracking Options to continue.

Step 3: Choose Your Tracking Numbers

Available formats:

  • Local Numbers – Maintain a local presence.

  • Toll-Free Numbers – Great for national reach and free-to-call engagement.

  • Area Code-Specific Numbers – Target specific regions.

Optional settings:

  • Add a whisper message (e.g., “New call from Google Ads”).

  • Toggle call recording on/off (ensure compliance with local laws).

Click Activate Number and then Done to finalize.

Step 4: Display a Call Tracking Number in a Funnel

  1. Copy your call tracking number or snippet from PXME.

  2. In your funnel or website builder:

    • Paste the snippet into the header/footer tracking code section, OR

    • Place the number in the phone number widget.

  3. Test in an incognito browser to confirm correct display.

For Number Pools, the displayed number dynamically changes by visitor traffic source.

Step 5: Add Tracking Code to Your Page

  1. In PXME, click the information icon next to your Number Pool.

  2. Copy the Normal Snippet.

  3. Paste it into Settings > Tracking Code > Footer Code on your funnel or site page.

  4. Save changes.

Step 6: Test Number Swapping

Open the funnel URL in an incognito browser to verify that numbers swap dynamically by source.

Step 7: Keyword Tracking

For Google Ads, append ?keyword={keyword} to your final URL.

Example:
yourlandingpage.com/?keyword={keyword}

This captures and displays the keyword that triggered the call, providing deeper ad performance insights.
