A Guide to Pre-Configured Contact Segments for Targeted Email Campaigns

Created by PX Marketing, Modified on Tue, 19 Aug at 4:12 PM by PX Marketing

Overview

Pre-configured contact segments in PXME are ready-to-use audience groups automatically created based on engagement behavior. Instead of manually filtering contacts, you can quickly target engaged, recently active, or disengaged subscribers with campaigns tailored to their activity.

These built-in segments save time, improve deliverability, and help you send more relevant messages that drive higher engagement and retention.

Examples of Pre-Built Segments

  • Active Contacts – Contacts who engaged with your emails in the last 7, 30, or 60 days.

  • Recently Engaged – Contacts who opened or clicked your last 5 campaigns.

  • Re-Engagement – Contacts who have not interacted with your recent campaigns (ideal for win-back messaging).

By targeting based on real activity, you can keep loyal readers engaged while giving inactive ones a reason to reconnect.

Key Features and Benefits

Targeted Messaging

Send personalized campaigns to engaged subscribers, improving open and click-through rates.

Customer Retention

Identify disengaged contacts and design re-engagement flows to maintain stronger long-term relationships.

Cost Efficiency

Avoid sending to inactive audiences, saving resources while boosting overall deliverability.

How to Use Pre-Built Contact Segments

  1. Navigate to Campaigns
Go to Marketing > Emails > Campaigns.

  2. Create a New Campaign
Click Create Campaign and move to the send/schedule step.

  3. Select Pre-Built Segments
In the recipient selection area, choose Pre-Built Segments.

  4. Choose Your Segment
Use the dropdown to select one of the available segments (e.g., last 7 days, last 30 days, last 5 campaigns, or re-engagement).

  5. Send or Schedule
Send immediately or schedule for a future time/date.

Note: Segments are locked in at the time of scheduling. They are not dynamically updated mid-campaign.

Pro Tips

  • Leverage Insights – Analyze engagement data from each segment to discover what resonates most.

  • Test Different Groups – Compare performance between Active and Re-Engagement campaigns to refine targeting.

  • Monitor Metrics – Track open rates, clicks, and unsubscribes per segment to optimize future campaigns.

FAQs

1. Are Subscribers and Contacts Different?
No. In PXME, subscribers and contacts mean the same thing.

2. What Defines an Engaged Contact?
Any contact who has opened or clicked a marketing email (via workflows, bulk actions, or campaigns).

3. Can I Customize My Segments?
Not yet. Pre-built segments are fixed, based on PXME’s engagement metrics. (Custom options may be added in future updates.)

4. How Often Are Segments Updated?
They are refreshed at the time of scheduling. They do not update dynamically during the campaign.

5. What Happens if I Use Multiple Segments?
PXME merges them. Contacts from any selected segment will be included in the send.
