How To Use Multiple Triggering Events in Workflows

Overview

Workflows in PXME begin with triggers—the events or actions that tell the system when to start automation. You can set up a single trigger or multiple triggers within the same workflow, giving you flexibility to design automations that respond to different kinds of events. By combining multiple triggering events, you can reduce redundancy and centralize related processes inside one workflow.

Step 1: Set Up Workflow Triggers

Navigate to the Workflow Builder

  • Go to Automation > Workflows.

  • Create a new workflow or edit an existing one.

Add Workflow Triggers

Choose the events that will initiate your workflow. Common examples include:

  • Survey submission

  • Contact tag being added

  • Form submission

  • Appointment booking

If you leave a trigger generic (without filters), the workflow will run for all events of that type.

Customize Triggers with Filters

Refine triggers to ensure they only fire under the right conditions:

  • Survey Submission: Specify which survey activates the workflow.

  • Contact Tag: Choose the exact tag required to start automation.

  • Form Submission: Select the specific form that triggers the workflow.

  • Appointment: Define the calendar or appointment type to narrow the trigger.

Step 2: Add Workflow Actions

After configuring triggers, add the actions you want to happen when those triggers fire. Examples include:

  • Sending an email or SMS

  • Updating a contact record

  • Applying a tag

  • Notifying a team member

Once your actions are in place, click Save and toggle the workflow to Publish to make it active.

FAQs on Workflow Triggers

1. What is a workflow trigger?
A trigger is the event that starts automation. Examples include form submissions, tags being added, or appointments booked.

2. Can I use multiple triggers in one workflow?
Yes. PXME allows multiple triggers in a single workflow so you can respond to different events with one automation.

3. How do filters affect triggers?
Filters refine triggers to fire only under specific conditions. For example, a form submission trigger can be limited to a specific form.

4. What happens if I don’t use filters?
If no filters are applied, the workflow will run for all relevant events of that type (e.g., every form submission).

5. How do I set up actions after triggers?
Once triggers are added, you can define the follow-up actions such as emails, SMS, tags, or notifications.
