Overview
When connecting Google Calendar to PXME, you may see this error message:
“You need to have writer access to sync appointments to the selected Google Calendar. Please check with the Google Calendar owner in case syncing is required.”
This error occurs when PXME doesn’t have the correct permissions to create or edit events in the connected Google Calendar. Below are step-by-step solutions to resolve the issue.
Solution 1: Grant Writer Access in Google Calendar
Log in to your Google account and go to Google Calendar.
Locate the calendar you want to integrate. Click the three dots > Settings and Sharing.
Scroll to Share with specific people and click Add People.
Enter the email address you use for PXME.
Under Access Permissions for Events, select Make changes to events.
Click Send to save.
Once saved, PXME will have writer access and be able to sync appointments properly.
Solution 2: Fix for Group Calendar Conflicts
If the error appears when connecting a Group Calendar:
In PXME, check the box for Do not sync new events to the primary calendar.
Go to Check for conflicts > Edit.
See if the calendar you need is already marked as “personal.”
If it is, uncheck it to free it up for use as your primary calendar.
Go back to Primary Calendar > Edit.
Re-select your personal calendar as the primary.
This clears up conflicts between group and personal calendars.
Solution 3: Fix for Simple/Event Calendars
If you own the calendar but still get the error, it may be due to multiple Google accounts connected to PXME:
Check for duplicate versions of the same calendar (e.g., “Personal”).
One version may only have See all event details (view-only).
The other version will have full permissions.
In PXME, select the calendar with writer access.
This ensures PXME is using the calendar with the correct permissions.
Real-Life Use Cases
Syncing Appointments – A marketing team grants PXME “Make changes to events,” and all bookings sync correctly.
Multiple Google Accounts – A user sees two “Personal” calendars. Selecting the one with writer access fixes the issue.
Primary vs. Personal Conflict – Resetting the primary calendar clears syncing issues.
New Team Member Access – Admin grants a new user “Make changes to events,” allowing PXME to sync appointments.
