Overview

Most families and contacts open emails on their mobile devices first, which makes mobile design a critical part of email marketing success. PXME’s Email Builder Inline Editor includes a Mobile Formatting feature that allows you to fine-tune fonts, layouts, and styles specifically for mobile viewing. This ensures every email remains polished, readable, and engaging on any screen size.

Navigation & Setup

Step 1: Edit a Mobile Design

  1. Open your email in Marketing > Emails > Templates/Campaigns.

  2. Click the Appearances tab.

  3. Expand the Mobile Formatting dropdown.

  4. Enable toggles for headings (H1, H2, H3), paragraphs, and buttons.

  5. Adjust font size, line height, style, and alignment for each.

  6. Save your changes.

Note: PXME includes default responsive styles, but you can fully customize them at any time.

Step 2: Preview & Test

  1. Click the 3-dots menu → select Preview Template.

  2. Toggle between Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile views.

  3. For the most accurate result, send yourself a test email and check it on a real mobile device.

Mobile Formatting Best Practices

Layout & Structure

  • Use a single-column layout for better readability on small screens.

  • Add white space to make emails look clean and inviting.

  • Ensure responsive design adapts to any device.

Images

  • Use responsive images that resize automatically.

  • Keep file sizes small for faster load times.

  • Always include alt text for accessibility.

Buttons & CTAs

  • Make CTAs touch-friendly: minimum size 44px x 44px.

  • Place buttons clearly in the center of the screen.

  • Keep CTA text short and direct (e.g., “Book Now” or “Learn More”).

Text & Readability

  • Use short paragraphs, bullet points, and subheadings.

  • Recommended font sizes: 14px minimum for body, 22px+ for headings.

  • Avoid decorative fonts that reduce readability.

  • Maintain strong color contrast for accessibility.

Content Strategy

  • Keep subject lines short and preheaders engaging.

  • Include plain text fallbacks in case images don’t load.

  • Provide an easy unsubscribe option to build trust and protect deliverability.

Go to Appearances > Mobile Formatting. Customize font size, line height, and alignment for headings, paragraphs, and buttons. Save and preview in mobile view.

It scales cleanly on smaller screens, while multi-column layouts often look cluttered on mobile.

Ensure buttons are at least 44px x 44px, centered on the screen, and use short, action-focused text.
