Keeping your email list clean and accurate is one of the most important steps for improving email deliverability in PXME. This guide explains what email validation is, why it matters, and how to validate emails for individual contacts or in bulk.
What Is Email Validation?
Email validation is a multi-step process that ensures the email addresses in your database are:
- Accurate → formatted correctly and valid.
- Authentic → connected to a real, functioning domain.
- Deliverable → capable of receiving your emails without bouncing.
Validation Process Includes:
- Syntax Check → confirms the email format is correct.
- Domain Verification → ensures the domain (e.g., gmail.com) can accept mail.
- Existence Confirmation → verifies that the mailbox actually exists.
- Risk Assessment → flags role-based or high-risk emails (e.g., info@, support@).
Why Email Validation Matters
- Improves Deliverability → validated emails are far more likely to reach inboxes.
- Protects Sender Reputation → fewer bounces strengthen your domain/IP reputation.
- Boosts Engagement Metrics → cleaner lists = higher open rates, CTR, and CTOR.
⚠️ Invalid or bounced emails damage your sender reputation. Regular validation prevents this and ensures consistent inbox placement.
When to Validate Your Email List
- New Lists → always validate newly acquired leads.
- Inherited Lists → especially critical if you didn’t build the list yourself.
- Ongoing Health Checks → validate regularly, particularly after major growth or list imports.
